A video made with “free copyright” material found on the internet, precisely to underline the “democratic” aspect that art should have for Cesare Catania. After having created his first physical work of art with waste materials in 2017 and after having exhibited, among others, at the Museo della Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan (title of the work: ReArt – year: 2017), after having clearly expressed his approach to the democracy of art during the same year with the “Art for Everyone” exhibition in Monte Carlo (in which the first work of art for people affected by Dalton syndrome, “The Mouth of Etna E Version” ), after entering the democratic world of NFTs and the Metaverse (also appreciated for the sense of equality it conveys), Cesare Catania decides to express his emotions also through Videoart. “Disruptive” is an artistic and musical short film, a work of video art created to enhance the democratic and collective path. An art that comes from our cell phones, from our video cameras and which is enhanced in this breathtaking masterpiece.

Democratic Art
« Special thanks certainly go to all the “directors” and video enthusiasts, who contributed involuntarily to the creation of this video, a video made by assembling free material found on the web, material shot by mostly amateur cameramen and who is intended to be an opportunity to reflect on our lives. A “disruptive” video, an almost 3-minute video that aims to underline the most pressing social issues at the moment, a video that contrasts the frenetic life of everyday life with the calm of nature, a sequence of images that underlines the unique transition that we are experiencing from the physical world to the digital world, two ways that now touch each other and which will soon become one. The idea of a Metaverse that enters our lives, for many in an unknown and confusing way. A video artwork that highlights women’s need to make their voices heard. A work of art that sees us continuously running towards an indefinite goal, almost as if we were synchronous puppets dancing to predetermined music. The delicacy of the flowers is contrasted with the rawness of the city. »

The Artistic and Social Background
“Disruptive” represents a milestone in Cesare Catania’s artistic career. In fact, the Italian artist decides to express his emotions with a sequence of “works of art in harmonic movement” and to give this work a high social meaning.
